My son, Syafie, failed to get any medal in the recent MTA Remaja Championship. It's okay son, I know you tried your best. He has one more chance to try for the medal this weekend. After that, he has to wait till December for the next 2008 Inter-Club Taekwondo Championship end of November.
22nd-24th August, we'll be at Genting Highlands for the IMU Open Taekwondo Championship.
This time around instead of being the photographer, I was appointed as team manager for Koryo Taekwondo club to lead the team to the 28th National Remaja Taekwondo Championship held in Penang.

Yeahhhhh ..... GOOOOOOO KORYOOO!!!!!
My Kids and I spend the weekend at a local community hall. The kids participated in a Taekwondo championship organized by our Local Council, Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya, MPAJ.
Syafiq, my second boy, was eliminated in the quarterfinals and came back home empty handed. His elder brother, Syafie, on the other hand, sailed through to the finals but lost in the final match. It was a close fight, but I think Syafie could have clinched the Gold medal if had tried just a little bit harder.
One thing I learned, and hopefully my kids too, that in a competition like this there're going to be losers. What's important is that he tried his best. With that in mind, I am content with the silver medal Syafie brought home. I bet he wanted to win as bad as I did ... perhaps more ... It is important to win but it's important to be a good loser as well, isn't it?
Here are some shots of the kids in action.
I've been a supporter of this sport since both my children became active in Taekwondo. I covered the events officially when requested. This week, I took photos a parent giving support to his boys.
Okay .... this is from a youtube newbie ...
This is the first time I muck around with video slideshow and youtube. More of a personal learning process.
Anyways, here's a slide show of some shots of the taekwondo event I covered over the weekend.
This is my favourite shot of the day .......
I also uploaded the whole 120 shots to live.com online album, here.
The resolution is better than the youtube video.
.
I covered another Taekwondo event last weekend. In fact it was a two-in-one championship.
- Day 1 : 1st December 2007 - 3rd Milo-MTCA Inter Club Taekwondo Championship
- Day 2 : 2nd December 2007 - 2nd Inter Team Under-17 Unity Taekwondo Carnival
Report from New Straits Times, NST Online 04-12-2007:
It was the second consecutive year that Koryo has won the championships but this year they took the title with ease as second-placed Gemilang Taekwondo Club, based in Terengganu, were a distant second with six gold, five silver and 12 bronze.
Third were Kuala Lumpur club Cemerlang with six gold, three silver and five bronze
Cemerlang, however, were the outstanding team in the girls' 14-17,
emerging category champions with three gold, five silver and one bronze.
Malaysia Taekwondo Clubs Association (MTCA) president Chee Hock Choong said the response from clubs and state teams was overwhelming.
"We had initially, due to time constraints, limited the championships to 500 exponents but such was the response that in the end, 890 competed.
"We couldn't turn them away and we are glad that we didn't as the quality was good and we believe the competition delivered on its objective of exposing young exponents to quality competition," said Hock Choong.
The challenge trophy is in honour of former
MTCA honorary secretary Sonny Lee Swee Thong who died following a
motorcycle accident last year.
Hmm, forgot to post pictures here for a while.
